Doug Summers, the company’s owner and principal, has been working in the commercial leasing, sales, and management of commercial properties since 1992. He started his career in 1992 with Trammell Crow. He worked for Trammell Crow until 1994 when he went to work for a small privately held company based out of Geneva Illinois. He began managing a portfolio of 338,000 square feet and left in 2006 managing over 800,000 square feet. Mr. Summers has completed over 800 leases in and around Kane County with transactions totaling $50,000,000.
Mr. Summers has consulted nationwide relating his expertise of business recruitment to Main Street programs throughout the Midwest and New Mexico. Summers Commercial Realty currently represents a total of over 1,300,000 square feet of commercial properties.
Among the many properties that Summers Commercial Realty has represented is the First Street Development in Downtown St. Charles. As Phase 1 completes, over 97% of the project has been leased. With over 100,000 square feet of retail space available, this development is transforming St. Charles into a place where people will come to work, shop, play, and invest.
Summers Commercial Realty was selected to lease this space because of their past experience, as well as their involvement within and knowledge of the community and its local market. In the year 2009, which would be considered a tough economy by anyone’s standards, Summers Commercial Realty was able to lease over 50,000 square feet of suburban downtown retail space.
Summers Commercial Realty opened a full-service Property Management Division on January 1, 2011. Summers’ Property Management Division manages over 135 commercial and residential rental units. In May of 2013, Summers Commercial Realty opened up a Residential Sales Division that handles individual residential home sales and purchases. The inclusion of the Residential Sales Division made Summers Commercial Realty a full service, one-stop shop, for all your real estate needs.

I have been very fortunate to have had the privilege and pleasure of knowing, coaching and teaching Doug Summers. I have known Doug for some 40 years. As a football player for me at Lake Park High School, Doug always gave his very best. Through hard work and dedication Doug worked himself into the starting lineup, where he excelled. After graduation from high school, Doug went on to major in business at Eastern Illinois University. Doug not being the type of person to just sit back on his laurels he went on to James Madison University where he earned a master’s degree. Doug has been involved in commercial real estate for some 28 years. In 2008 he fulfilled a lifelong dream and started his own company in commercial realty, where he currently is president and managing broker.
I retired from Lake Park High School in 2008, my last 13 years as principal. After retirement I have taught at Benedictine University and Elmhurst University. I taught leadership and ethics to teachers going for their master’s degree in education. I mention this because I feel very confident I know what true leadership and ethics are in this day and age. Doug Summers possess both of these qualities to the highest degree. One only has to look at Doug’s impressive resume to see that he continues to demonstrate hard work and determination in everything he does.
